"Helping Missoula raise healthy and resilient children and youth"

What is the Forum? What is Prevention?Positive Youth DevelopmentGet InvolvedAbout Us

The Missoula Forum for Children and Youth is an alliance of prevention coalitions, agencies, and individuals united by a common mission:

To build and maintain a supportive environment for collaborative and proactive work to help Missoula prevent substance use and other risk behaviors and grow healthy and resilient children and youth.

The Forum was established by a group of community leaders who wanted to develop a better infrastructure to link, coordinate, and build community-wide prevention efforts in Missoula County.  The Forum facilitates networking and collaboration among professionals, volunteers, and community leaders who are committed to increasing resiliency among Missoula's youth.

Five coalitions operate under the umbrella of the Forum, developing and employing community-wide strategies that reduce risk factors, enhance protective factors, and promote positive youth development.  The coalitions target specific populations or issues and sometimes convene ad hoc task forces to address projects of interest to all the Forum coalitions.

Forum coalitions:

  • Healthy Start Council

  • Missoula Adolescent Pregnancy, Prevention, and Parenting Services (MAPPPS)

  • Missoula Underage Substance Abuse Prevention coalition (MUSAP)

  • Youth Development Network (YDN)

  • Media Literacy Community Action Team
