MCPS schedules first SPARK Concert to celebrate best performances of the year
WHEN AND WHERE: 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 at the Dennison Theater (UM Campus). COST OF ADMISSION: Free admission but donations to benefit the program are gladly accepted. WHAT: Presented by the Missoula County Public Schools’ Fine Arts Department. SPARK will offer an opportunity for parents and the general public to see some of the best of this school year’s band, choir, orchestra and drama students in celebrated performances. The event will feature several groups of talented, young students, including the All-City Orchestra and Hellgate Jazz Band, which were both selected to present at the National Association for Music Education’s Northwest Division Conference in Portland, Ore., in February. Also featured will be Missoula Youth Symphony, Kocong (the Gamelan group from Lewis and Clark Elementary), the Hellgate Drama Department and several others. ADDITIONAL SPARK EVENT: SPARK will also launch this year’s Southgate Mall Elementary Art Show, which runs April 30 and through May 19 at Southgate Mall in Missoula. The art show will officially open at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Mall’s Clock Court near the main entrance.
