Kindergarten Registration – For Fall 2013 – Begins on Tuesday, April 9
The first day of school in the 2013-2014 school year is Wednesday, Aug. 28; some schools take a “staggered approach” to kindergarten beginning with half day classes for the first-time students and progressing to “full day” classes as the week concludes.
To be registered for kindergarten, a child must be age 5 on or before Sept. 10, 2013. The District provides full-day kindergarten classes in all schools. Parents should bring their child’s birth certificate and proof of immunizations to registration, as well as a utility or phone bill that verifies their physical address.
It is important that parents register their child as soon as possible so that students can be included in Kindergarten Roundup, a orientation program for kindergartners and their parents at each school in May.
Registration begins in the nine MCPS elementary schools. Parents must begin the registration process at the school that serves their neighborhood (as defined by the District’s attendance boundaries). Parents who are unsure what school their child should attend can access boundary information at www.mcpsmt.org/attendanceboundaries. A search function (by address) is available and attendance maps may also be viewed. Here is a list of MCPS schools and addresses:
